Similes

I was learning about similes I know that we describe using our senses and we compare two things using like or as. It was tricky because there is a lot of things to compare.

Making a word plan.

Reflection

I was learning to make a word plan. I know that a word plan has a topic and 3 or 4 ideas. I learnt that I can use a word plan to help me with my writing.

This is easy for me because it is just 3 or 4 ideas.

I know that blends are always at the start of a word. I am learning about beginning blends in words. This is easy because it just has 2 letters.

I am learning to create and use simple graphic organisers with support

We have been learning how to use popplet on the laptops/ ipads. This is my brainstorm about my bedroom. 

"I am learning to describe my bedroom. I am proud of myself for writing lots of ideas. It can be tricky to start my writing but I can use my brainstorm to help me."

I am learning to write a cinquain poem

We have been learning how to write cinquain poems. We will be successful when we:

•  use descriptive language
•  follow the structure of a cinquain poem. 
•  not repeat the same words.

A cinquain poem is made up of 5 lines. 

This first line is one word (title).

The second line is two describing words.

The third line is three verbs (doing words).

The fourth line is four words to describe a feeling. 

The fifth line is one word.

This cinquain poem is on my favourite colour!

I am learning to use describing words

On Friday Elm Park schools had a big celebration. It was lovely. After the big quiet assembly I went to the hall. I played party games.

"I sometimes like writing at school. I am proud of myself for using some describing words. My blue word card helps me with my writing."

I am learning to use my senses to help me with my writing.

In class we have been using the Quiver App on the ipads. First, we coloured in our animal and then we used the ipads to make it come to life. For writing we used some of our senses to help us write about our animal.

"I liked writing about the pukeko. Next time I could do my full stops and capital letters better."

Sage "I used the word blue because it's a colour of the ladybug. It can be under leaves, they eat leaves. They have lots of legs, that's like 6 legs."

Memorable Moment

I am learning to write about a funny moment.

Sage "It was easy to think of funny moment because its easy to think about my family. I don't find it hard to write about this story."
